The band officially started in 2002. However, in 2000, François (guitar) already had the concept in mind, a few compositions and two musicians with him to start. In 2002, soon after meeting Christian (guitar), the name Cryptik Howling was created.

Then Eve-Lyne (keyboards), Dominic (vocal) and Guy (drums) joined in fall of 2002. The formation was complete in the beginning of 2003, when they met Réjean Bernier (bass).

In fall 2004, after a few gigs, Cryptik Howling recorded Eternal Moon of Disgrace as a promo song with Yannick St-Amand. Réjean left the band after the recording and Emmanuel (bass) joined in November 2004.

Cryptik Howling made their CD Release the 10th of June 2006 with no less than 300 fans showing up.
